Parks and Recreation / Maidan

Public parks are an invaluable component of all good urban spaces. As cities modernise, parks become the last public spaces that are free to use and for people of all walks of life, a defiant bastion of uncommodified leisure amidst the daily grind.

‘Maidan’ literally meaning ‘open field’ in Bengali, is the largest urban park in West Bengal.

Final series completed for Pieter Ten Hoopen’s visual storytelling workshop, Kolkata 2015.
